TO: MEMBERS OF THE STATE BOARD OF HIGHER EDUCATION

A regular meeting of the State Board of Higher Education will be held on Friday, April 20, 2001. Prior to this meeting, the Board's Budget and Finance and System Strategic Planning Committees will convene. In addition, there is an accreditation meeting at OSU in Corvallis, as well as an open forum on the WOU campus on Thursday, April 19. All meetings, expect for the accreditation visit, will take place at Western Oregon University, in Monmouth, Oregon, in accordance with the times, locations, and schedules listed below:

Thursday, April 19, 2001
9:30-10:30 a.m. OSU Accreditation Team
Board Room, Memorial Union
Oregon State University, Corvallis

As part of OSU's ten-year accreditation review process, several Board members will meet with the evaluation committee charged with reviewing OSU's status as a member of the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges.

3:45-4:30 p.m. Open Forum
Room 217, Education Building

This is an opportunity for WOU students, faculty, and staff to meet with a panel of Board members to have questions addressed in a public session. Beginning at 6 p.m., President Youngblood is hosting a reception in the Wayne and Lynn Hamersly Library and dinner in the Pacific Room in the Werner University Center. No Board business will be conducted at these social gatherings.

The Committee will consider several action items including tuition increases, engineering enhancement allocations, and instruction enhancement allocations, all for the 2001-2003 biennium. There will also be a report on the accountability framework.

8-9:45 a.m. System Strategic Planning Committee
Willamette Room, Werner University Center

Action items include naming of the Central Oregon branch campus as well as the title for its executive officer; permanent administrative rules relating to confidentiality and mediation; and permanent administrative rules relating to grievance processes. One program is slated for review, a B.A./B.S. in Information Systems from WOU. Two reports will be presented: (1) student/faculty/staff diversity in OUS, and (2) campus safety in OUS.
