Performance Measures and Indicators: 1998 Baseline Performance
Reports for Institutions, Oregon University
System
The performance measures and indicators initiative is a statewide effort
to refine priorities, strengthen quality, and improve OUS productivity. This
month, the Board is presented with an overview of the campus reports that
focuses on an aggregate view of how well each campus is doing compared to
its own past performance, allowing for differences in institutions -- missions,
programs, and customers. The overview is organized by the four Board goals:
quality, access, employability, and cost-effectiveness.
B.A./B.S., Computer Science/Multimedia
Studies, EOU
EOU requests authorization to offer a baccalaureate degree in Computer
Science/Multimedia Studies, effective fall 1998. This degree has been developed
in close collaboration with Blue Mountain Community College and Treasure
Valley Community College and is supported by legislative funding that promotes
greater student access to higher education.
B.A./B.S. in Women's Studies,
UO
UO requests authorization to implement a baccalaureate degree in Women's
Studies, effective fall 1998. The proposed interdisciplinary program has
strong student and faculty support.
B.A. in Judaic Studies,
UO
UO requests authorization to offer a B.A. in Judaic Studies, effective fall
1999. Gift funds will support this degree. Once approved by the Board, a
national search will be launched for a program director for this secular,
interdisciplinary degree.
Finance and
Administration
President's Residence Purchase, EOU
EOU requests Board authorization to sell the current president's residence
and acquire a new home for the incoming president, Dr. Phillip Creighton.
Hotel Conference Complex, OSU
OSU seeks Board approval for a long-term ground lease to a hotel developer
looking to construct a new 80,000 square foot, 156 room hotel conference
complex.
1998-99 Annual Operating
Budget
The recommended 1998-99 annual operating budget allocations are in accord
with the actions of the 1997 Legislature in approving the 1997-1999
appropriations for OUS. The narrative describes the issues and staff
recommendations concerning the budget allocations to the institutions for
1998-99.
