1. Meeting Summary Notes of June 27, 1997
The summary notes were approved as submitted.
2. Annual Report to Joint Boards of Education
The draft was discussed and numerous revisions suggested. Suggestions were
incorporated into the final report.
3. Work Plan for Joint Boards Approval
Extensive discussion took place on the work plan for 1997-98. Click here to see
the revised plan.
4. School Transformation Communication Plan and Materials
Materials to explain K-12 Education Transformation, developed by the Oregon
Department of Education, and numerous partners, was distributed with the agenda
for the September 11, 1997 JBAC meeting. Members agreed that completion of the
materials should satisfy the past work plan item for review of materials on
education reform and that the item should not be carried forward into this
year's work plan.
5. Joint Presidents' Meeting on Systems Articulation
Jon Carnahan presented the idea of a facilitated joint meeting of community
college and university presidents to discuss issues surrounding articulation. A
Kellogg grant on change at Land Grant Universities might be tapped for
resources. Betty Youngblood had a somewhat different understanding of what
seemed to be a related charge from Joe Cox. Clarification will be forthcoming.
6. Meeting Schedule
Elaine will call members regarding available dates as several members had
conflicts on October 9th. The remainder of the meeting dates will be
set at the October meeting. It was suggested that we invite Portland State
University's new President, Dan Burnstein, to attend a JBAC meeting.
