State Higher Ed Board Meets Friday
EUGENE - The Oregon State Board of Higher Education will meet Friday, December 21 at Portland State University.
Agenda items include setting 2002 summer session tuition and fees, proposals for new state and federal legislative concepts, presidential goals, and reports on performance and advanced degree graduates. Also scheduled is a wide-ranging discussion on the balance between campus autonomy and system centralization, including a review of alternative university system models and sources of revenue, plus a progress report on the search for a new chancellor.
A series of committee meetings will precede the regular meeting of the Board, which is scheduled to begin at 1:15 p.m. in Rooms 327-329 of PSU's Smith Memorial Center.
The Board's Executive Committee will meet at 7 a.m. in Room 323, Smith Center. On its agenda is a planned executive session to discuss personnel matters.
The Budget and Finance Committee and the System Strategic Planning Committee will hold concurrent meetings at 8 a.m. The Budget and Finance Committee will meet in Rooms 327-329 Smith Center; the System Strategic Planning Committee in Room 238, Smith Center.
The committees will come together in a joint meeting at 9 a.m. in Rooms 327-329 to review capital renewal with the Oregon University System and the fiscal status at Oregon State University. There also will be a Committee of the Whole meeting at 9:45 a.m. in Rooms 327-329 to hear presidential goals and engage in the discussion on autonomy and centralization.
