Portland Executive Nominated for State Board of Higher Ed
SALEM -Patricia McCaig, a Portland communications executive and former gubernatorial chief of staff, been nominated by Gov. John Kitzhaber to serve on the Oregon State Board of Higher Education.
Subject to confirmation by the Oregon Senate, McCaig will begin a four-year term on the Board in November. She succeeds Jim Willis of Salem whose term expired in June.
McCaig is a partner in the Portland firm of Davis, Hibbitts & McCaig, Inc. The firm specializes in opinion research and strategic communications.
The new board member-designate has more than 20 years in public policy experience. She served as chief of staff to former Oregon Governor Barbara Roberts. In addition, her experience includes six years as chief of staff to the Secretary of State, work as a legislative aide in the Oregon Legislative Assembly, and four years as an elected Metro councilor in the Portland area.
Ms. McCaig attended North Seattle Community College and the University of Washington.
The State Board of Higher Education serves as the governing board of the Oregon University System. OUS campuses include Eastern Oregon University, La Grande; Oregon Institute of Technology, Klamath Falls; Oregon State University, Corvallis; Portland State University; Southern Oregon University, Ashland; the University of Oregon, Eugene; and Western Oregon University, Monmouth.
