Higher Ed Board to Meet at Southern Oregon University
PORTLAND - The Oregon State Board of Higher Education will hold its first regular meeting of the 2002-2003 academic year Friday, October 18 on the campus of Southern Oregon University (SOU). The meeting will take place in the Rogue River Room of the Stevenson Union from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Topping the agenda for Friday's meeting are discussion of the 2002-2003 operating budget including approval of tuition surcharges at Oregon's public universities, an update on the strategic planning process, a review of recommendations by the Oregon Council for Knowledge and Economic Development and proposals from several of Oregon's public universities to add degree and certificate programs as well as purchase real estate and expand space.
Prior to Friday's regular meeting of the full Board, two separate committee meetings also are scheduled.
The Board's System Strategic Planning will meet in Room 319 of SOU's Stevenson Union from 7:30 to 8:15 am. On the SSP agenda is action on the three year biennia plan to enhance the Oregon Opportunity Grant Program, approval of a new degree in Media Arts at Eastern Oregon University and approval of a new graduate certificate at OHSU.
The Board's Budget and Finance Committee will meet in SOU's Rogue River Room of the Stevenson Union from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. Their agenda includes action on the 2002-2003 operating budget, purchase of a new building by Portland State University, approval of increase in limitations at both SOU's library and Oregon State University's Hinsdale Wave Research, a report on budget and athletics by Oregon State University, and approval of the 2002-2003 travel reimbursement policy.
