Executive Committee, Joint Boards Meet Friday
EUGENE - The Executive Committee of the Oregon State Board of Higher Education and the working group for the Joint Boards of Education will meet Friday, Sept. 17, in Portland.

The Executive Committee will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in Room 234 in the Smith Memorial Center at Portland State University to evaluate performance and set goals for the public university presidents at Portland State University, Eastern Oregon University, Oregon Institute of Technology, the University of Oregon, Southern Oregon University and Western Oregon University.

In July, the Committee completed similar evaluations and goal-setting for the Chancellor of the Oregon University System and the president of Oregon State University.

Friday's evaluations will be conducted in an executive session from 8:30 to 10:45 a.m. The goal-setting will be done in public session from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

The Executive Committee's agenda also includes action on a grievance brought by four Portland State University faculty, and a proposed new temporary rule on faculty fellowship leave. The four PSU faculty have applied to receive additional compensation for teaching off-site classes. The rule, if approved, would allow OUS campuses to pay benefits for faculty during approved fellowship leave if they agree to return and complete a year's service after leave. Those who fail to complete that obligation would be required to repay the full cost of benefits paid for them during their leave.

The Joint Boards Working Group is scheduled to meet from 1 to 3:30 p.m. in Room 238, Smith Memorial Center. Their agenda includes a report on recent legislative actions, discussion of CIM/CAM/PASS implementation, and updates on teacher education initiatives and regional partnerships between OUS campuses and Oregon community colleges.
