Senate Confirms Henry Lorenzen to State Board of Higher Education
PORTLAND, August 5 -
Governor Kulongoski's nomination of Pendleton attorney and business leader, Henry C. Lorenzen, to serve on the State Board of Higher Education, was confirmed last week by the Oregon State Senate. His four-year term on the Board will begin immediately.
Jim Lussier, president of the Oregon State Board of Higher Education, said, "We are very pleased with the nomination by the Governor and the confirmation of the Senate of Mr. Lorenzen to join the Board. His vast experience serving on a variety of state commissions and in nonprofit organizations, as well as his private sector work, will serve to strengthen and support the important work of the Board."
"Henry brings both a broad range of skills, and the perspective of Eastern Oregon and the rural areas of the state," said Governor Kulongoski. "He will be a valuable and welcome addition to the Board."
Mr. Lorenzen, a prominent Pendleton attorney from a 3rd generation farming family, is a partner in the law firm of Corey, Byler, Rew, Lorenzen & Hojem, L.L.P., as well as President of H & C Lorenzen Farm, Inc. He has been: an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice; a member of the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission; a member and chair of the Oregon Environmental Quality Commission; and a member of the Oregon Law Commission. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Oregon Historical Society, Oregon Public Broadcasting, and Oregon East Symphony.
Lorenzen received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Oregon State University, his M.B.A. from Harvard University, and his J.D. from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College.
