Director Named for Oregon Master of Software Engineering Program
PORTLAND - Richard H. Lytle, a Pennsylvania educator and consultant, has been named as the new director of the
Oregon Master of Software Engineering Program offered by the Oregon College of Engineering and Computer Science.
Lytle is former dean and professor of information science at Drexel University, Philadelphia, and director of information
resource management for the Smithsonian Institution. He has recently served as director of education and training
programs for the CoreTech Consulting Group, King of Prussia, Pa.
He earned his undergraduate degree from Rice University; masters degrees from Washington University and the University
of Maryland; and his doctoral degree from the University of Maryland.
In his new position, Lytle will head the ongoing development and delivery of a unique public-private educational
program designed for working professionals and others specifically interested in software engineering careers.
The program, now still in its first full year of operation, provides specialized courses and a professional degree
offered jointly by Portland State University, the Oregon Graduate Institute, Oregon State University and the University
of Oregon. Classes are taught evenings at the CAPITAL Center in Beaverton to better accommodate enrollment by working
high-technology professionals in Washington County. Distance delivery is planned for other Oregon locations in
2000.
