On-line Career Fair Begins
EUGENE -- Thousands of Oregon public university graduating seniors and alumni will inaugurate the state's first on-line job fair beginning today.
Through Friday, May 5, they'll be able to search for jobs posted directly by nearly 50 Oregon schools, businesses and industries on a Web site called "Oregon Jobs for Oregon Graduates." The site, www.ojog.uoregon.edu, has been developed through the partnership efforts of Oregon Chamber Executives, Associated Oregon Industries and the Oregon University System career center directors.
The website allows businesses to link directly with students and alumni and offers information on how to apply for jobs, either with an on-line application or a printed cover letter and resume.
The aim of the site is to help local companies and organizations recruit graduating students and alumni who wish to find employment within Oregon. The new service provides a direct link to the estimated 12,000 students who will are expected to graduate from Oregon's public university campuses this spring. OUS campuses include Eastern Oregon University, La Grande; Oregon Institute of Technology, Klamath Falls; Oregon State University, Corvallis; Portland State University; Southern Oregon University, Ashland; the University of Oregon, Eugene; and Western Oregon University, Monmouth.
