La Grande Added to Chancellor Search Conversations
EUGENE - A sixth public conversation in La Grande has been added to a statewide schedule of meetings during which Eastern Oregonians will have a chance to share their ideas on what type of individual should become the next chancellor of the Oregon University System.
The La Grande meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 19 from 4 to 6 p.m. in Room 309, Hoke Hall, on the campus of Eastern Oregon University.
Jim Willis, chair of the State Board of Higher Education's search committee, said today his committee will hold the six regional "Public Conversations" to gather information and ideas from interested Oregonians.
"We want Oregonians to help us as we search for the right person to become the new chancellor," said Jim Willis, chair of the State Board of Higher Education's search committee. "We'd like to know what Oregonians see as the key challenges facing the chancellor and the board in the future. What, specifically, should the new chancellor accomplish and what kind of person would it take to accomplish that?"
Next week's meeting is planned as informal, walk-in session where Eastern Oregonians can visit with members of the search committee and other board members to share comments and ideas.
The statewide series began in Medford today. Other cities hosting meetings include Portland, Salem, Eugene, and Bend.
Current OUS Chancellor Joe Cox plans to step down from leading the Oregon University System later this summer.
