Risk Management

Chancellor’s Office Risk Management staff work closely with an inter-institutional Risk Council to address risk, safety, and environmental health and safety issues for the Oregon University System.  Risk management services include furnishing information and recommendations to make divisional, departmental, or institutional decisions, in order to provide a safe, healthy climate for employees, students, and visitors. Risk Management seeks to help keep property, liability, and workers’ compensation claims as low as possible while addressing safety, risk, and environmental health.

The Risk Management staff work with the Risk Council, as well as with human resources personnel, environmental health and safety managers, business officers, budget officers, risk coordinators, facilities directors, contract officers, workers’ compensation coordinators, and student health center directors and their staff. They also interact with other agencies, including SAIF, Risk Management Division, DOJ, Workers’ Compensation Division, the Department of Consumer and Business Services and the agencies involved with fleet management. The Risk Council meets four times a year, and includes campus risk, safety, and environmental health and safety managers as well as a designee of each campus vice president.
