Sustainability and Energy

Capital Planning and Construction manages the OSBHE’s sustainability policy. OUS facilities, numbering over 1,000 buildings and serving over 120,000 students, faculty and staff, consume significant amounts of energy on a daily basis. In addition to an overall impact on the environment, high-energy use affects a campus’ financial operating efficiency, as energy prices become more variable (and costly) over time. To mitigate these impacts, OUS campuses have taken a leadership role in achieving campus sustainability goals and meeting state mandates for energy reduction. Each campus addresses sustainability though climate action plans, monitoring and benchmarking, sustainable design, and renewable energy projects, among other efforts.
